Hamburg / Warschau, 13th September 2017 – mytaxi, Europe’s largest e-hailing app and part of Daimler Group, today launches mytaxi match, a new pooling product that offers customers a cost-effective and efficient ride-sharing experience.
mytaxi match will initially be available to users in Warsaw – enabling them to access the pooling potential of 1000 vehicles, before the service is rolled out across a host of other European cities in the coming months.
Over the past six months, mytaxi match has undergone extensive testing across Europe to guarantee the success of its new convenient shared route technology. mytaxi match is the first pooling service launched in Europe that works exclusively with licensed taxi drivers ensuring customers receive a high quality service as standard.
The mytaxi app has been designed to be as simple as possible for users. With just a few taps, mytaxi match links two passengers travelling in the same direction who can share the comfort, speed and convenience of the ride, and also the cost.
Environmentally-conscious passengers can travel safe in the knowledge that ride-sharing reduces levels of pollution and traffic congestion in cities.
With the recent acquisitions of Clever Taxi, Romania’s leading taxi app, and Taxibeat in Greece, mytaxi is continuing its positive growth trajectory, consolidating its presence in the international mobility services market and strengthening its position as Europe’s leading e-hailing taxi company.
Andrew Pinnington, CEO of mytaxi, commented:
“This is an exciting moment for mytaxi. As the world’s first taxi app, it’s essential that we continue to innovate our technology to drive the international taxi trade into the 21st century.
“By introducing mytaxi match to Europe, we’re confident of the benefits both for passengers – who can enjoy a premium service at a reduced price – and drivers, for which the service unlocks new fare potential. Launching in Warsaw marks an important first step towards our ambition of bringing the service to other European cities we operate in.”
mytaxi was the world’s first taxi app, founded in Germany in 2009 by Niclaus Mewes (CEO) and Sven Külper (CMO). The concept is based on the idea of establishing a direct connection between licensed taxi drivers and passengers to offer both sides a modern alternative to conventional time-consuming booking processes. With over 45,000 affiliated taxis and over 10 million downloads of the app to date across 9 countries, it is now also the global market leader among taxi apps.
